HI!  THANKS FOR VISITING MY WEBSITE!

Be sure to check out my blog at MySpace.com -- blog.myspace.com/docvenusI'll be posting upcoming events, everyday occurrences, and random thoughts.

I'm one of those who knew from a very young age that I wanted to become a doctor. I fell down on the playground in preschool...the school nurse slapped a Bandaid on my knee...and "bang" I decided to be a doctor! OK, maybe I was too young to actually remember the specifics now, but it probably happened something like that.

While following the path toward a medical degree, I discovered that life had so many other things to offer as well. I found great joy in pursuing many different hobbies and interests. Singing, dancing, modeling, training for fitness contests, wakeboarding (or attempting to wakeboard, I should say - hee hee!), news broadcasting, oil painting, and even knitting/crocheting -- I've enjoyed them all. Live life to its fullest, I say!

Given my different activities and pursuits, some have asked me if I'd ever consider moving on to a different career. Right now, I can't imagine not practicing medicine. It's something I worked hard to achieve and I'm quite happy doing what I do. That's not to say that I won't make time to supplement my career with other interests that further enrich my life.

I've realized that my outside interests can also enhance my ability to promote health and fitness...a goal that I've made it my career to pursue. Competing in fitness contests has been an extremely rewarding way for me to do just that. Even radio broadcasting and swimsuit modeling have served as avenues for me to promote a healthy and fit lifestyle.

BIO:

Several years ago, Venus Ramos introduced herself to Temptation Island viewers as "proud to be born and reared in Kansas City."  However, there is much more to Venus than her on camera persona as a "temptress" on FOX's hit reality TV series.

As a rehabilitation physician, Venus has committed herself to the promotion of health and fitness not only to her patients, but to the community at large as well. Her training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation allows her to help deconditioned patients optimize their functional independence. Being a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, her experience also includes work as a personal trainer, a senior citizen fitness educator, and a volunteer trainer for Special Olympics track athletes.

Venus not only advises patients and clients on the benefits of physical fitness, but she herself regularly trains for fitness competitions. Having held the titles of Ms. Collegiate USA and Miss Teen of Missouri, this is one pageant titleholder that is not afraid to sweat. She regularly appears in the Fitness America ESPN Series and has competed in the Nova Fitness (Obstacle Course) World Finals, the Fitness America National Finals, and the Fitness Universe Pageant. Her competitive fitness achievements include winning the Natural Universe Modelquest 2001 and Ms. Bikini California 2002. Most recently, she won the title of Ms. Fitness Los Angeles 2005.

No matter how busy her life and career may get, Venus always makes time for training. In fact, while in Belize for "Temptation Island," she woke up early every morning to run sprints and jump hurdles on the beach - usually all before taping began for the day.

Her expertise in the arena of sports and fitness has been recognized in the media as well. She's been featured on local news programs for FOX-, CBS-, and ABC-affiliate stations. She had a fitness training article published in Oxygen Magazine and she has served as an on-camera medical consultant in beauty and fitness product infomercials. She has also done fitness modeling for print and television.

Radio listeners may know her as "Doctor Venus," as she shares her knowledge of sports injuries and rehabilitation on "Damn...Another Sportz Show!?!" - a Los Angeles radio show which features all-female correspondents. She has made numerous appearances in reality TV programming including "Temptation Island" (FOX), "I'd Do Anything" (ESPN), "Star Dates" (E!), "Scream Play" (E!), and "How Do I Look?" (Style Network).

While Venus' career and athletic pursuits keep her busy, she also enjoys more leisurely activities.  During football season, you can usually find her at a sports bar cheering on her favorite team.  And you don't have to twist her arm to go out to a karaoke night.  Music is a passion that Venus holds close to her heart.  Not too long ago you might have caught one of her performances as a featured pop/alternative vocalist at a local tavern in New York.
